Runaway Bay - Chapter 11
Fear, Part 2
From Chapter 11:
We saw a mountain stream running along the highway and pulled over to explore. The roar of the current was exhilarating. We jumped from rock to rock, sharing the kind of adventure we both enjoyed. After some time, we found a boulder big enough for the two of us to share and sat down to rest under a gray winter sky.
New Mexico
Our time in New Mexico formed us deeply, in many ways. For one thing, we fell in love with the high-desert beauty. Any landscape that stretched before us or stream that looked like the one pictured above, would call to us to stop our car and frolic for a few hours.
Another aspect of our early marriage formation was that we were away from family and friends in Austin. We missed them, of course. But we needed to establish our own identity as a married couple, to find out and become secure in who *we* were together.
And part of that, of course - maybe the most important part - is the story that Amy tells in this chapter.
Our modest first home as a married couple, which we loved so much.
A couple of words about this website of “bonus material” for Runaway Bay:
Amy didn’t create it … Thomas did. You may have already guessed that the “I” in the captions isn’t Amy, but me - her husband.
( She doesn’t really like websites. Or QR codes for that matter. Or bulleted lists like this one - a dead giveaway that she didn’t write this part. )Therefore I don’t mind making the shameless plug - if you are enjoying her phenomenal book, would you be willing to put a review on Amazon? As Amy’s “publishing partner” the one surprising thing I’ve seen is this: people love her writing, and even volunteer their time to email or text her with their responses … but getting them to post a quick review on Amazon is a whole ‘nother level of hard.

Thank you so much!
