Unity through Repentance: The Journey to Wittenberg 2017
Chapter 10
Herrnhut
You’ve read Chapter 10, and you’re hungry for more? Don’t worry, we got you!
Hitler’s Eagles Nest
Hitler created a secluded hideout in the Austrian Alps. This was planned to be his secret base of last resort, if he had to flee Germany. It included a network of bunkers, and was visited multiple times by Hitler - who was Austrian.
The Cogdell family entering Hitler's Eagles Nest
The Eagles Nest is so secluded, that it can only be accessed via this elevator.
Hitler's marble fireplace, chipped away by Allied troops when then arrived at the Eagle's Nest in 1945
The Cogdell men hard at work, with the goal of ...
... terrorizing Peggy with the world's biggest snowball! (She doesn't look too worried)
Our trip on the way to Herrnhut
Our campsite in Lucerne, where according to the keepers we were NOT camping.
Cogdells in beautiful Lucerne, Switzerland
Happy boys, with a wide assortment of weapons
Noah & Peggy Jo on the Lucerne bridge
Steep railway up to the Pilatus gondola base station
On the gondola up to the top of Mt. Pilatus. It was on this ride that Noah announced, "I'm going to live overseas" ... which in fact he now is doing.
Europeans make great playgrounds!
Vernazza, one of the five small coastal villages in Cinque Terre, Italy
I proudly succeed in "hanging" up the broken tent in our campground in La Verna, Italy!
Justus next to St. Francis' bed, La Verna
Noah at St. Francis' prayer cave, La Verna
Cogdells visit Assisi, St. Francis' home town
Cogdell portrait before Scrovegni Chapel, Padua - shortly before a massive rainstorm completely obliterated our already-compromised tent
Venetian traffic jam
Walking the backways and byways of Venice
Romance on St. Mark's Square, Venice (picture taken by John Patrick, 5, because none of the other kids would take a picture of their mom and dad kissing ... "Oooo, gross")
Peggy likes Venice!
Camping at Kasern near Salzburg, Austria - good thing there were rental tents, given the sadly dilapidated state of our tent

Herrnhut
As seen from the prayer watch tower
Upon arrival in Herrnhut, we found ourselves welcomed into the Antioch Network gathering at the Jesus Haus
Count Zinzendorf's grave
The house where we stayed in Herrnhut had parakeets ... here is John Patrick holding Francy
George Miley in a meeting
The meeting in Herrnhut. George Miley is on the far left and his wife, Hanna, is on the far right. Father Peter is to the left of the cross, in the white shirt. Our friend Sandi Pedrotti from Hope Chapel is in the front—she had known of Father Peter previously and came to Herrnhut in part to hear him speak.
Lunchtime in Herrnhut. Five of the six people around this table were eventually involved in Wittenberg 2017.
